Here's a great shot Karen took of Pat, Boyce (behind me), my mom, Jeannie and Joel, on the sun deck of the Belize Aggressor III!
This page is devoted to scuba and the trips I've made.
I've traveled to Papau New Guinea, St. Thomas, Aruba, Saba, Nassau, Cozumel, Belize, St. Vincent,
San Salvador, Dominica, Los Roques, Venezuela, Cayman Islands,
Key West, FL, North Carolina, Bonaire, Fiji, Turks & Caicos, the Solomon Islands, Hawaii, Thailand, Yap, Truk and Galapagos. Future trips planned include North Sulawesi and the Phillippines. Here are some of the sights from my trips! Don't hesitate to write me if you'd like more information about any of the places I've been! For more recent trips than are listed on this page, check my Facebook page.
ST. VINCENT 12/08
Although a pain to get to, the diving on St. Vincent is pretty good! Click here for pics.
THAILAND/MYANMAR 04/08
Back to the Ocean Rover in the Andaman Sea! We were incredibly fortunate to be able to charter the Ocean Rover for one of her last cruises in the Andaman Sea. She has now moved on. We were also lucky to have missed the storm by about two weeks!! The diving in that part of the world is, as always, just incredible. Pics to come...
SOLOMON ISLANDS 10/07
This time, we spent two weeks on the Bilikiki, which I prefer slightly to the layout of the Spirit of Solomons. Although there were not as many critters, it is still an awesome place to dive. We heard an underwater volcano from 40 miles away! Click here for clips from my video.
KOMODO 11/06
This was an awesome trip. We spent a couple of days on the island of Bali, then eleven days on the Komodo Dancer. The diving is a combination of Solomon Islands and Thailand, with Komodo dragons thrown in! Click here for clips from my video.
DOMINICA 1/06
Dominica is an excellent place to dive in the Caribbean. Contact me for details.
GALAPAGOS ISLANDS 10/05
This was the trip of a lifetime! Next time, I'm going to spend more than a week diving Galapagos - it wasn't enough! We were on the Galapagos Aggressor I, which was excellent. Click here for clips from my video.
YAP & TRUK 3/05
Incredible! We spent three days diving with mantas and mandarin fish on Yap, then a week on Truk Odyssey diving the wrecks of Truk Lagoon. The Odyssey is the most spacious liveaboard we've ever seen! Click here for some clips from my video.
DOMINICA 11/04
Our fourth trip to the nature island! This time, we found mantis shrimp!
HAWAII 8/04
I spent a few days diving with Captain Bruce's on Oahu. They promise extreme comfort diving, and they deliver!
THAILAND 3/04
We dived with Fantasea Divers on the Ocean Rover. It was awesome! We decided Ocean Rover was the best liveaboard anywhere! Click here for some clips from my video.
CAYMAN BRAC 8/03
We stayed at Divi Tiara on Cayman Brac for a week. It was hurricane season, so we did get blown out one morning, but other than that, the diving is pretty good and the resort will be great once the renovations are complete. It's worth going just for the food!
BELIZE 5/03
Back to Belize! It just keeps getting better there! I'll have pics later, I'm still editing video from my last two trips! Check back later for some shots of eagle rays, morays, jawfish, huge tarpon, etc., etc.
DOMINICA 1/03
This place just keeps getting better! We saw more unusual things (including a batfish) and more whales than last time. Click here to see some pictures.
SOLOMON ISLANDS 10/02
Awesome! We snorkeled with orcas, saw a school of pygmy mantas, cuttlefish, harlequin ghost pipefish, caledonian stingers, sharks and every sort of colorful goby and dartfish. Click here to see some of the sights we saw:
Solomon Islands
TURKS & CAICOS 5/02
Yet another great Aggressor trip! Piers is just awesome, make sure he's on the boat when you go! We saw lots of sharks, flamingo tongue snails, green turtles, lots of critters!
FIJI 11/01
Definitely the best trip I've ever taken! Soft corals in every color of the
rainbow, manta rays, sharks, blue ribbon eels, nudibranchs. We spent ten days
on the Nai'a, which is by far the best liveaboard in Fiji. If you are
thinking of going to Fiji, contact Casey at Blue Kirio! Casey
knows these reefs, and made our trip effortless and memorable.
Here are a few pics for you:
BONAIRE 7/01
If you're into difficult shore diving, you'll love Bonaire. Personally,
I prefer a liveaboard! The diving was pretty good, the Town Pier was
magnificent.
BELIZE 2/01
My second trip on the Belize Aggressor, and to date, still my
favorite Caribbean liveaboard! Here are a few digital shots captured from
the video I shot of the week:
Turkey Dive, Haymarket, VA 11/2000
And for some local fun, here are a few shots of "The" Dive Shop's
annual Turkey Dive at exotic Millbrook Del Sol in balmy
Northern VA!
Los Roques, Venezuela 10/7/2000
Great trip! Juan Carlos made sure we had an excellent week on
the Antares Dancer. The boat was an old converted fishing trawler,
but the service and diving made up for the condition of the boat.
We saw groups of eagle rays, a large nurse shark, and huge
green morays. Macro is good there, too!
And here are some of the photos I took:
Dominica 5/27-6/3/2000
Back to Dominica! It was even better diving this year!!!
Seahorses, longlure frogfish, a synaptic sea cucumber, and much more!
Here are some of the macro pictures I took:

Cayman Aggressor IV 1/2000
My favorite Caribbean liveaboards are the Aggressor Fleet - nobody else even comes close!
The boat was perfect, the crew was excellent, the diving was top notch,
and I'd do this trip again in a heartbeat!

Here's a photo of me on Bloody Bay Wall, Little Cayman.

St. Lucia 11/99
I wasn't able to do much diving because of Hurricane Lenny, but
this is a beautiful island! We stayed at the Windjammer Landing Resort,
a five-star resort which I recommend to anyone! Frog's Diving
was very nice, and there's also great shore diving and snorkeling
at Anse Chastenet on St. Lucia.
Morehead City, NC 10/99
Back to North Carolina! This time we dove with Olympus Dive Center.
Calm seas, no current, great viz! Definitely for advanced divers,
but I highly recommend it. The Olympus is a spectacular boat,
we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Here's the Olympus:
And here's what we saw on the Papoose:
(thanks for the picture R.D. Decker)
Morehead City, NC 6/99
If you can't afford to get to the Caribbean soon, then consider
some pretty good diving right here on the East Coast!
We spent two days on the Diver Down out of Atlantic Beach, NC.
The seas are rougher than I'm used to, and I wouldn't recommend
NC for anyone who isn't an advanced diver, but the wrecks are
spectacular, and the water is warm through the summer and fall.
Click here for more info: Diver Down
LOS ROQUES, VENEZUELA 5/99
We traveled on the Antares Dancer, a Peter Hughes liveaboard.
No longer in business, she was an older and smaller
boat than most liveaboards. But the diving is spectacular!
Huge schools of tropical fish, monstrous green moray eels, and
a swift current will keep you from being bored in Los Roques!

Here are some slides I took:

DOMINICA 1/99
Ah, Dominica. A good-sized island covered with tropical rain
forests. Hundreds of rivers flow on the island, and when diving
Champagne, you can hear the rumble of old volcanoes underwater!
Seahorses, longlure frogfish, spotted eels, friendly divemasters.
Here are some photos of what we saw:

San Salvador 8/98
We stayed at Riding Rock Inn, and dove with them also.
The water was 86 degrees F, the grouper were VERY friendly,
as you can see from the picture
of me petting one, and
we saw lots of lettuce leaf slugs. The dive boats are large,
the crew and staff friendly. The rooms are spacious as well.
This is one of the eastern-most islands in the Bahamas, so the
diving is very good. Check out Riding Rock's web site for details:
Riding Rock Inn
BELIZE 5/98
Here's the Belize Aggressor III - if you are thinking of
diving Belize, this is the ONLY way to go! Excellent staff,
excellent diving, excellent food! It was perfect!
Go to the Aggressor Fleet's web page for more details:
Aggressor Fleet
Here are some of the sights:

Cozumel 1/98
We stayed at the Coral Princess, and dove with Diving Adventures.
Great drift diving! We saw Splendid Toadfish and even a hammerhead!

An excellent picture of a Splendid Toadfish.
NASSAU 8/97
We stayed at Dive, Dive, Dive in Nassau. Rent a villa there
and you're steps from the dive boats. Prices are reasonable,
the staff great, the diving great too! Spotted eagle rays,
large grouper and great wrecks from several movies.
If you feel like partying, catch a ride over to Paradise Island
on the other side of New Providence Island!
SABA 4/97
In Saba, we stayed at Captain's Quarters and dived with Sea Saba.
Here's Elsie's cottage where we stayed:

The hospitality of native Sabans is unparalleled, and the diving
is breathtaking. Saba is called "The Unspoiled Queen of the
Caribbean" for good reason! Click here: Sea Saba
for more information. If you like remote places, this is it!
Be sure to bring some Saba Spice home with you!
